The newly christened Café 1872 commemorates the year St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City first opened its doors to the community. Replacing the hospital’s primary cafeteria—a long-anticipated transformation—the café now serves the majority of visitors and caregiver staff on campus. It offers a refreshing, light-filled atmosphere, expansive and diverse culinary offerings, and a connection to a lush outdoor terrace. Hidden above the elevated “cosmic” ceiling are numerous infrastructure upgrades that streamline café and hospital kitchen operations while optimizing energy use.
